PALM COAST -- Violet I. Heron, 77, of Black Hawk Place, who retired in 1977 as a registered nurse for the Flagler County Health Department, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital-Flagler, Bunnell. 

Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Mrs. Heron came to this area in 1988 from Pembroke Pines. She trained at Kingston (Jamaica) Public Hospital and earned her associate's degree in nursing from Florida International University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Palm Coast and the American Nurses Association. She enjoyed knitting. 

Survivors include her husband, Ivanhoe; a son, Courtney, Naperville, Ill.; nine brothers, Noel, Claude, John and Ten Yong Chang, all of Florida, Cecil Chang, Belize, Ronald Chang, Canada, and Winston Chang, John Tomlinson and Morris McPherson, all of Jamaica; four sisters, Mercedez Daley, Florida, Eda Chang, United States, Edna Allison, New York, and Mizie Chue, China; and two grandchildren.
