Mike Hurst
September 1, 1977 – October 16, 2022



Mike was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the parents of Roger and Betty (McCorkle) Hurst. The Hurst family later moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky and then onto Marion, Indiana where Mike enjoyed the large majority of his childhood.

Mike was a 1995 graduate of Marion High School and was a significant contributor to the MHS Boys Tennis team and also played Golf. He then attended Indiana University-Bloomington, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and graduated with degrees in Finance and Accounting from the Kelley School of Business.

Mike lived and worked in Chicago, as well as Los Angeles and other areas of southern California, before locating to Florida in 2019. He had a significant career in Finance and was the Managing Partner of Riverbed Capital at the time of his passing. Mike was a fiercely loyal friend to many, well known for his quick wit, and enjoyed reading, trivia, Indiana Hoosiers basketball, and many genres of music.

Mike is survived by his parents, Roger and Betty Hurst of Palm Coast, Florida, sisters Lori (Geoff) Eltzroth of Marion and Lisa (Mike) Serafini of Chicago. He was also the prideful uncle to nieces, Abby Eltzroth (Pikeville, Kentucky) and Oliva Serafini (Chicago) and nephews, Ethan Eltzroth (Bloomington, Indiana) and Rocco Serafini (Chicago).

A small, private family service and burial was held in Palm Coast, Florida on Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home and Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marion High School Alumni Association with a memo note of Hurst/Beekman-Porter Tennis Fund and checks mailed to MHSAA PO Box 448 Marion, IN 46952.
