George A. Jarosz Sr., 78, Hernandez Avenue, Palm Coast, died July 22, 2006. Born Dec. 14, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., Mr. Jarosz moved to Flagler County in 1945.

Over the years, he owned and operated several local family businesses, including a gas station, Jarosz Plumbing and Jarosz Trailer Court. He was a well-known and respected member of the community and always found the time to help out his neighbors by performing odd jobs, from repairing and painting the local church to building seawalls. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, billiards, farming and raising a large family. A lifelong hard worker, he taught his eight children many skills that they use today.

He was predeceased by two of his children, Richard A. Jarosz and James C. Jarosz.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Dunson Jarosz, Palm Coast; children, George (Carla) Jarosz, John Jarosz, Andrea (Greg) Robertson, Bunnell, Joe (Leva) Jarosz, Kentucky, Martha (Marcus) White, Ormond Beach, and Michael (Linda) Jarosz, Palm Coast; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private celebration of his life will be 12 noon Saturday, July 29, at his home.

Coastal Cremation, Palm Coast, is in charge of arrangements.
