Richard M. "Dick" Keer, 88, of Palm Coast, FL passed away on December 31, 2011. He was born in Philadelphia, PA.

He graduated from Dickinson College after his college career was interrupted by his Army service in England and Germany during World War II. He completed post graduate studies at Penn State and Middlebury College. His 62 year marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Hartzell lasted until his death parted them.

An accomplished educator and linguist, Dick spent the first 35 years of his career as a teacher, administrator and student of many foreign languages. Dick finished his teaching career in Livingston, NJ and moved to Palm Coast in 1984 but never really retired. He loved playing tennis and was a long time member of The Players Club.

He and Dotty were board members of the Flagler Public Library. They began the still active ARC of Flagler County (first called the Just for Fun Club) to serve individuals with special needs. He volunteered at FPC HS for 20 years, showing slides and sharing stories of his European travel adventures with many students. A talented vocalist, Dick served God and entertained multitudes with beautiful performances of both spiritual and secular music at churches and venues throughout the area.

Survivors are his widow Dotty Keer; daughters Beth Keer, Cheryl Massaro and Cyndie Boyles all of Palm Coast; son David Keer and Rhonda of Lucas, TX; and sister Patricia Loeliger of Concord, CA; grandchildren, Melissa Boyles, DeeDee Huddleston, Matt Keer, and Kandice and Jason Ramos; great grandchildren, Matthew and McKenzie Keer, Faye Luellen, and Kylee and Gage Ramos.

A Memorial Service will be held at St Marks by the Sea Lutheran Church, 303 Palm Coast Pkwy NE, Palm Coast on January 4, at 2:00 PM. You are welcome to visit with the family at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
