THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, July 22, 1848

Connie King, 3-year-old child, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry King, was fatally injured in a two-car crash under the traffic light here where state highways 5 and 100 cross Monday afternoon about 3:30 o’clock.

The mother, Mrs. Sallie King, suffered seriously torn muscles and pelvic dislocation. Both were carried to Flagler hospital in St. Augustine where the child died Wednesday night about 10 o’clock and Mrs. King is awaiting an operation before applying further investigation of her injuries.

A year-old child on the back seat of the King car was no injured, neither were the occupants of the other car except for being shook up.

Occupants of the other car were Mrs. Mary Alice Oury and her 10-year-old son Harvey who were enroute to Miami from Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Oury car was proceeding south and the King car west, both apparently at moderate speed. Although a number of persons were nearby on the street no one seems to know which vehicle had the right of way.

The Oury card was damaged mostly on the left front, while the King car was damaged almost its entire length on the right side.

Mrs. Oury was charged with reckless driving after the accident was investigated by Deputy Sheriff Miller Teters. She posted a $500 bond and went on to Miami.

Funeral services for the King child will be held Sunday afternoon from the First Baptist Church here, but the hour has not yet been determined.

The body, which is at Garcia Funeral Home in St. Augustine, will be returned to the home of its parents here Saturday, it was stated.
