A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Dr. Kevin W. Kist 78 of Ormond Beach will be held on Friday December 17 at 1:00 PM in St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd, Ormond Beach. The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach.

Dr. Kist, a resident of Ormond Beach since 1997 coming from Crestwood NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in Florida Hospital Oceanside Hospice. He was born in Manhattan NY on April 13, 1932 a son of the late Henry and Florence West Kist.

Dr. Kist was a retired professor and administrator for City College of NY. He was a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army and was the former president of the volunteers at Florida Hospital Flagler. He was a do-it-yourself person who also enjoyed playing tennis and scuba diving.

Surviving are his wife of over 50 years Maureen (Brady) Kist, two daughters, Carolyn Kirby of South Salem NY and Kelly Ambrose of Rowayton CT, one son, Dr. Kevin W. Kist Jr. of Williamsport PA and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Dr. Kist’s memory be made to St. Brendan’s Catholic School Adopt a Student Program or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
