A funeral service celebrating the life of Herbert J. Light 87, of Palm Coast, Florida will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 2:00PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach. Friends may visit 1:00PM until service time at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Light passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home. He was born on June 19, 1921 in Grove Oak, AL to the late Obie and Lydia Light (Odom). As a young man he served in the Navy during WWII and served on the battleship South Dakota. He retired as a chemical engineer for American Machine and Foundry after 35 years.
In 1982 He and his wife moved to the Palm Coast area from Norwalk, CT. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8696 in Palm Coast. His enjoyment came from cruising, traveling, gardening and doing handyman work.
He is preceded in death by his wife Grace R. Light in 2003.
