Bernard Lipshitz, son of Abraham and Sarah Sarrow Lipshitz was born March 11, 1928.
Bernie proudly served his country in the United States Army, and the Merchant Marines. He retired from the City of New York as a sanitation worker. Bernie enjoyed fishing, playing cards, travel and was also known for his green thumb. He was past president of Temple Beth Shalom in Palm Coast, a member of Jacksonville Jewish Center, and a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans.
He is survived by two daughters, Judith (Jerry) Lento and Caryn (Leon Yergin) Kenny of Jacksonville; one sister, Rhoda (Ruven) Melik of Orlando, one brother, Burt (Homera) Lane of San Francisco, CA., four grandchildren, Joshua (Samantha) Lento; Jordan (Andrew Wilson) Lento, Joseph Moss and Sarah Moss; and his partner Sue Ann Blumenthal.
He was preceded in death by Wilda, his loving wife of 51 years and two brothers, Daniel Lifschitz and Teddy Sheldon.
Graveside services were held Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were in the trust and care of the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home in Flagler Beach.
