Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Kathryne Ann McDonnell, 85, Flamingo Drive, Palm Coast, who died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Florida Hospital Flagler, Palm Coast, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pwky., Palm Coast. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, in the Memorial Room at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will follow the Mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach.
Kathryne was born January 27, 1920, in Scranton, Pa., to Patrick and Mary (O'Boyle) Burke. She worked for American Radio Relay League, Newington, Conn., until her retirement. Kathryne was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where she was involved with the Evening Guild, CHRP (Christ Renews His Parish), and Cursillo. She enjoyed playing tennis, loved painting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Barbara McDonnell, Palm Coast; her three daughters and their husbands, Kathryn and Tom Mignanelli, Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Mary Sue and Gregory Swayne, Newington, Conn., and Michelle and Joseph Avella, Palm Coast; brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Kitty Burke, North Carolina; sister, Patricia Burke, Scranton, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan and Michael McDonnell, Suzanne Blair, Christopher and Matthew Mignanelli, Patrick, Katie and Kelly Swayne, and Eric, Christine and Sean Avella; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter McDonnell, Christopher Joseph McDonnell, Daniel Hampton McDonnell and Thomas Ryan Blair. Kathryne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Joseph McDonnell, and her son, James Patrick McDonnell.
Kathryne lived for her family and she was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Most recently, she resided at Home Sweet Home under the loving care of Joyce Aitkens and her staff.
