FLAGLER BEACH - Kevin. J. McErlean, 78, of Palm Drive, a police officer who retired in 1983 from the New York Port Authority, died Wednesday at Florida Hospital Flagler, Palm Coast.

Mr. McErlean, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., and moved here last year from Ocala. He was a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, the Retired Port Authority Police Association, Signal 82 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9503. Mr. McErlean also was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary; three daughters, Karen Raphael, Flagler Beach, Susan Zotta, Cumming, Ga., and Colleen Chapman, San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Henry, Wellington, and James, Oak Ridge, N.J.; and four grandchildren.
