He was born on January 27, 1921 in Waltham, Massachusetts to the late James Patrick and Lillian Marie McGovern (Rennie).

Arthur graduated high school and began to take college courses. He then took employment as a Machinist with Waltham Watch Company from 1939-1944, where he then served in the US Navy during WWII. After his honorable service was completed he then worked for and retired from Raytheon as a supervisor machinist.

In 1992 he and wife moved to Palm Coast area from Cape Cod, MA. He was a member of the American Legion for many years. Arthur was an avid sports enthusiast loving all types of sports but his greatest love in life was spending time with his beloved family. He will always be remembered as a loving family man.

Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Marguerite "Margie" in 2011.

Survivors include his children, Arthur Jr. of Palm Coast; Carol Ann McGovern of Natick, MA; Jimmy and his wife Maria McGovern of Palm Coast; brother, Walter T. McGovern of Waltham, MA; grandchildren, Seth, Jennifer, Christine, Julie, Caitlin, Dawn, Jimmy, Erin and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Kourtney, Kailey, Eva, Grace, Olivia, Angelo and Enzo.

Donations in his memory may be made to Florida Hospital Memorial Center, 301 Memorial Parkway, Daytona Beach, FL. 32117.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 4:00-8:00PM at the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4, 2017, 11:00AM at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church with interment following at Flagler Memorial Gardens with military honors.
