A funeral mass celebrating the life of Marguerite “Margie” E. McGovern 84, of Palm Coast will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, 10:00AM at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, Flagler Beach. Friends may visit on Monday, April 11, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the chapel of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home 511 Old Kings Rd. S. Flagler Beach. Interment will follow the mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
Margie passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Florida Hospital Flagler. She was born on March 27, 1927 in Natick, Mass to the late Howard M. and Mary Elizabeth Balcom (Magorty).
She retired after 26 years of service as a special packer for the Raytheon Company. In 1992 she and her husband moved to Palm Coast from Waltham, Mass. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Margie enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, sewing, gardening and vacationing especially at the beach but her greatest joy was being with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years Arthur; children, Arthur McGovern Jr. of Palm Coast; Carol Ann McGovern of Natick, Mass; Jimmy and his wife Maria McGovern of Palm Coast; brother, William H. Balcom of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christine, Julie, Caitlin, Dawn, Seth, Jimmy, Erin and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Kailey, Grace, Olivia, Angelo, Enzo and Kourtney.
Services are in the care and trust of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
