Darthula "Dottie" Favors McQueen 

Darthula "Dottie" Favors McQueen, 88, of Palm Coast, transitioned to Glory on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Concorde Loving Care Center, Inc., Palm Coast. The daughter of Henry & Lucy Favors, she was a native of Hogansville, GA., born on Thursday, April 8, 1926 and was raised in LaGrange, GA.  

She was educated in the Troup County (GA) School System. Upon graduation, Darthula relocated to New York to pursue a career as a Wardrobe Mistress on Broadway. While residing in the “Big Apple,” she met and married Milton McQueen. They resided in Harlem prior to settling in the Bronx area. They became the proud parents of one daughter and three sons. Mrs. McQueen served as the Wardrobe Supervisor for a myriad of Broadway & off-Broadway productions. 

In 1990, upon retirement as a Wardrobe Supervisor from the "Great White Way," the family relocated from the “Empire State” to the “Sunshine State.” Darthula faithfully and joyfully served the Lord at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast. She was an amazing cook and hostess who served as a mother and caregiver to many. She was the cornerstone of her family and a true gift to all blessed to know and love her. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Milton McQueen, Jr; siblings, Edith McCutchen, Jeannie Davis, Olivia Foster, Margaret Byrd, Eudora Bohannon, Lizzie White, Henry Favors, Jr., and Joe Louis Favors. 

“Dottie” is tremendously missed and treasured by: devoted husband of 67 years, Deacon Milton McQueen; daughter, Iris Amaker, Atlanta, GA; 2 sons, Larry McQueen, Atlanta, GA; Anthony McQueen (Theresa) Raleigh, NC; sister, Dr. Jerri Robinson, Norwalk, CT; 3 grandchildren, Nicole Thatch, Atlanta, GA; Anthony McQueen, Jr., Diamond McQueen, Raleigh, NC; “Adopted daughters,” Velma Lewis, Bronx, NY, and Carol Timus, Palm Coast; and a host of other relatives and friends.  

Visitation of family & friends will be one hour prior to the celebration. A Celebration of Darthula's Life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway South, Palm Coast, FL. Pastor Edwin Coffie, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Craig-Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach.
