Robert A Melita of Palm Coast Florida, formerly of Johnstown, New York passed away with his wife by his side on December 31st after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 2, 1950, Bob graduated from Johnstown High School, NY in 1966. He worked for the Fulton County Social Services department in Johnstown, NY for over 10 years and then for more than 13 years as an Account Manager for the former Karg Brothers Tannery. His last employment, before retiring, was with JBF Tannery in Gloversville, NY. Bob and his wife have resided in Florida since 2005.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Judy; his mother Wilma Vedder of Johnstown, NY, his children; Brooke Smith (Rick), Corey Melita of Fonda, NY, Jessica Brown (David) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Matthew Keller, Silver City, NM; brothers, Greg Melita, and Derek Gordon (Debbie); and sisters, Kim England (Jim), Laurel Charles and Stacey Dotson (Ron); eight grandchildren, Kaleigh, Kyla and Mason Smith, David, Jameson and Jonathan Brown, Iviane Keller and Katherine Keller, as well as a niece and many nephews.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, from 4-6 pm at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home in Flagler Beach, and Thursday from 10-10:30 at the funeral home. A Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 am at the St. Maria Del Mar Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service will be held Monday, January 9th, from 5-7pm at New Covenant Community Church, Johnstown, NY.
