PALM COAST -- William J. Monzione, 77, of Blare Drive, who retired after 27 years as a police officer for the City of (Mass.) Chelsea, died Monday at Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veterans Nursing Home, Daytona Beach.
Mr. Monzione, a Navy veteran of World War II, moved to this area in 1980 from his native Chelsea. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Lodge, the Italian American Club, Massachusetts Police Association and he served as a volunteer for the Flagler County Court System.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; a son, William Jr., Orlando; four daughters, Diane Grasso, Wilmington, Mass., Joann Denning, West Peabody, Mass., Linda Pescione, Lynnfield, Mass., and Marie DiGaetano, Revere, Mass.; two brothers, Joseph and Dominic Jr., both of Chelsea; five sisters, Eleanor Puelo, Rivere, Carmella Wagner, Cape Cod, Mass., Lillian Frongillo, Bellflower, Calif., Angie Smith, Danvers, Mass., and Lucy Hazelton, Peabody, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
