Jay Barton Musikar, 77, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Putnam Valley, NY passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 30, 2015.

A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 2:00PM at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.

He was born on May 23, 1938 in New York, NY. To the late Samuel and Helen (Fried) Musikar. As a young man Jay served in the US Army Intelligence division in Turkey during the Cold War Era. After returning home, he married the love of his life and began his career as a middle school science teacher in Yorktown Heights, NY until his retirement. In 1997 he moved to the Palm Coast area from Putnam Valley, NY. His memberships included the Flagler Emergency Communication Association, ARRL National Organization, NJDXA, and the Free Masons. He had a great love for meeting people and has made friends all over the World through his hobby as an avid amateur radio operator. Jay was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Sydell “Syd” Musikar in April of this year. Survivors include his children, Merrill Musikar and his partner, Heather Alexander of Palm Coast, Rhonda Musikar and her husband Todd Rosner of Wilmington, MA. Matthew Musikar of New City, NY., and a beloved sister, Sharon and her husband Ken Michaelson of Vero Beach, FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Anderson Center for Autism, 4885 US Route 9, Staatsburg, NY. 12580.
