PALM COAST - Albert Nirenstein, 59, of Palm Coast, a resident since 2003, died Monday at Florida Hospital Flagler. 

Mr. Nirenstein, a retired Army sergeant of the Vietnam War, who served in the 198th Infantry Brigade and received the Purple Heart, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to this area from Norwalk, Conn. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Amputation Chapter of New York City. Mr. Nirenstein enjoyed fishing and wheelchair sports. 

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nancy; a son, Edward, Palm Coast; a daughter, Ann Roush, Burke, Vt.; his father, Louis, Palm Coast; a sister, Rita Miller, Stanford, Conn.; and a grandchild.
