Margaret Theresa Daly Nolan, 87, of Mechanicsburg died on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at ManorCare in Carlisle. Her son Michael and daughter-in-law Karin were at her side at the time she went to heaven to be with her Lord Jesus Christ and her husband, John, who predeceased her in 1994.

Marge was born on April 25, 1924, in County Monaghan, Ireland, to James and Susan (Quinn) Daly and came to the United States with her family at the age of 3.

In the United States, Marge lived in the Bronx and Queens, N.Y.; Malverne, Long Island; and Beverly Beach, Fla. In 2003, she moved to Mechanicsburg to live with her son and family. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Mechanicsburg.

She is survived by her son Michael, daughter-in-law Karin, grandchildren Kristine Barner, husband Jeremy and son Jaden of Mt. Holly Springs; Kathleen May and husband Jared of Dillsburg; and Brian Nolan and wife Amelia of Bristow, Va,; step-grandchildren Kimberly Riordan, husband Robbie and children Corey, Kyle and Chelsi of Conneaut Lake; Nicole Henry and husband Bill of Mt. Holly Springs; Eric Kantz, wife Laurie, and children Braeden and Carmen of Meadville, Zachary Holbrook of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Josh Holbrook of Harrisburg.

Marge is survived by her sister Mary McGilloway and husband Dan of Beverly Beach, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Marge is also survived by her best friend of 65-plus years, Oradell Alter of East Chester, N.Y., and by her precious roommate at ManorCare, Bea, who she cared for and loved dearly.

Marge is predeceased by brothers Frank, Pat and James Daly of New York.

"Grandma," as she preferred to be called, was an incredibly loving and generous person. She only saw the good in people and was so appreciative of everything she had and everything people did for her, no matter how small. She lived to shop for clothes and loved to spend the day shopping with Karin.

This world is a better place because of Grandma's life. She touched countless people with her warm personality and kind words. Grandma was so happy when over the last two weeks she had visits from her nieces Janie Ford of Virginia, Barbara Heymann of Connecticut and Susie Sheehan of Florida, in addition to her sister Mary, also of Florida.

The Nolan family wants to thank the entire staff at ManorCare for making Grandma's stay there so positive and rewarding. She loved you all and constantly spoke about how wonderful the people and services were.

At her request, there will be no viewing or service at this time. She is being cremated and will be buried with her husband, John, in Florida on a future date to be determined by her family.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in her memory should do so to ManorCare Health Services, 940 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle PA 17015.

Margaret's family has entrusted her care to Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory.
