Joseph Richard Orsillo, 96 of Palm Coast, passed away August 28, 2022 at Flagler Health and Rehabilitation.

Joseph was born February 3, 1926 in Dover, New Jersey, a son of Angelo and Emilia Lanciano Orsillo.

He grew up in Boonton, New Jersey, after graduating high school; he was drafted into the Army serving in the 3rd Army 22nd Battalion, 4th Armored Division under General Patton. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Bastogne and was stationed over Central Europe. He received the European African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to New Jersey, where he studied under the GI bill, and received his private pilot’s license on a Piper Cub. He also raced sprint and midget cars. He worked as an operator of construction equipment, self-employed truck driver, and later, owned and operated his own body shop. Joseph enjoyed flying in a Cessna 172, and was a professional harmonica player in a band along with his brother Frank. He was an avid reader , a Yankees fan, enjoyed going to air shows, concerts, first ride in a Sea plane and traveling through out Florida with his daughter Diane and Son in-law Tom and going to races with Diane & Tom and brother Frank & Linda. And when relaxing at home, enjoying having our beloved cat Milo by his side.

His wife of 63 years the former Julia (Judy) DePaolo passed away in 2013.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Diane Orsillo DeFilippo and her husband Thomas of Palm Coast; Brother Frank Orsillo and Linda Robinson, Sister Lee Parkinson and Brother Michael Orsillo, and numerous nieces and nephews including Frank & Louise Orsillo and children, Isabella & Kenny Bubnick, Joanne Voorhees, Emily & John Sprague, Michael & Doreen Orsillo and Barbara & David & Ji-Young Rothauser, Daniel Orsillo, Ralph & Beverly Orsillo Vicki & John Voorhees Jr. and many extended family and friends, including Loretta Orsillo & Rick , Hugh & Cris Sutherland, Vincent & Lenore DeFilippo and children Michael & Kristin, Emilia DeFilippo and Adam Nemerovich ,Debra & Raymond Santiago and children Brandon & Brianna, Jacky Buck, Lucy & Bill Hoffman and Norma Lewis, Chuck Merica and Don Donado, and Rene & Lena Gardens.Trappman.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Anthony Orsillo, Albert Orsillo, Lucy Rothauser, Philomena Orsillo, Lena Orsillo and John Orsillo and in-laws Frank & Rose DeFilippo, nephew John Voorhees and friend Sydney Buck.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Santa Maria del Mar, 915 N. Central Avenue in Flagler Beach. Mass will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. George Sankoorikal officiating. Entombment will follow at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
