Ernesto “Ernie” Ortega
A funeral mass celebrating the life of Ernesto “Ernie” Ortega, 91, of Palm Coast will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010, 10:30AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 4600 Belle Terre Parkway. Entombment of his cremated remains with military honors will be immediately following the mass at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens in Flagler Beach.
Ernie passed away on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Florida Hospital Oceanside Hospice. He was born on November 7, 1919 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico to the late Jose and Ramona Ortega (Figueroa). As a young man he served in the US Army in during WWII. He moved to the Palm Coast area 20 years ago from New York City. Ernie was a lifetime member of the VFW Palm Coast Chapter. He enjoyed attending the parties at the Italian American Club, bowling, tennis, walking the neighborhood every morning, his wife’s cooking and fixing things. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant son Ernesto Ortega Jr. in 1950.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Lydia; daughters, Yvette Ortega-Ulubay of Maywood, NJ, Nancy and her husband Mark Graney of Draper, Utah; grandchildren, Michael Hordof, Jason Stamm, Gabrielle Ulubay, Luke Graney and Matthew Graney.
Donations in his name may be made to American Diabetes Association.
