PALM COAST - Anthony F. Palazzo, 82, of Belleaire Drive, a retired aircraft mechanic from Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island, died Sunday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Gainesville. Mr. Palazzo, an Army veteran of World War II, who was a prisoner of war captured during the Battle of the Bulge, was born in West Warwick, R.I.
He moved to this area in 1979 from Rhode Island. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8696, and the Knights of Columbus Council 7845. Mr. Palazzo enjoyed baseball, golfing and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara; a brother, Angelo, Putnam, Conn.; and six sisters, Ann Monroe-Hecker, Winter Haven, Bridget Cabral, Greenville, R.I., Theresa Hawkins, Hilton Head, S.C., Mary Heck, West Warwick, and Josephine Tedeschi and Ursula Gaule, both of Warwick, R.I.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119.

Funeral Mass for Anthony F. Palazzo, 82, Palm Coast, who died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at the VA Medical Center, Gainesville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast.
His family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. S., Flagler Beach. His family will also receive friends Friday, January 27, in the Memorial Room of the church from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 Mass.
Anthony was born Dec. 3, 1923, in West Warwick, R.I., to the late Joseph and Antonetta (Martone) Palazzo. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He was also a POW, captured during the Battle of the Bulge. Anthony retired as an aircraft mechanic from Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island.
He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the VFW Post 8696, Palm Coast, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7845, Palm Coast. Anthony enjoyed baseball, bowling and golfing.
