Maryly Barton Penrose, 68, of Palm Coast died March 23, 2007, at Hospice Care Center in Port Orange.

Mrs. Penrose born July 5, 1938 was a native of West Orange, N.J., and moved to Palm Coast from Switzerland in 2004.

Mrs. Penrose was a genealogist, owner and operator of Liberty Bell Association in Princeton, N.J., activist and author and in 1979 was awarded the Donald Lineous Jacobus Award for most distinguished and best genealogist book of the year. 

Services: Were held Monday, March 26, 2007. 

Survivors: Her husband of 47 years, Thomas Penrose; daughter, Deborah Barton Penrose, both of Palm Coast.

PALM COAST - Maryly Barton Penrose, 68, of Ryland Place, a former owner/operator of Liberty Bell Associates, Princeton, N.J., died Friday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. 

Mrs. Penrose was born in West Orange, N.J., and moved here in 2004 from Switzerland, Fla. She was also a certified genealogist. She was an activist for the deaf and authored eight books and had more than 60 articles published in professional journals.

In 1979, she received the Donald Lineous Jacobus Award for most distinguished genealogist and the best book written in that year. She enjoyed gardening, animals, reading, and stamp collecting. 

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Thomas; and a daughter, Deborah Barton Penrose, Palm Coast. Memorial donations may be made to the Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
