A funeral mass celebrating the life of John Rocco Piovane, 73, of Flagler Beach FL. will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013, 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Korona. Interment will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends on Friday Morning from 9:00 until 10:30 AM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach.
John passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 14, 1939 in Coaldale, PA to the late Rocco and Veronica Piovane (Sofranko). He proudly served in the US Navy as a communications technician.
After his retirement as a supervisor customs inspector for the US Government he and his wife moved to the Flagler Beach area in 2001. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Mary’s Council #11961, where he was a past Grand Knight, current Deputy Grand Knight. Past Faithful Navigator of Corpus Christi Assembly #2810 and part of their color corps. Current president of the Pennsylvania Club of Palm Coast/Flagler Beach. John was also very active at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Philadelphia. He enjoyed woodworking and watching football and baseball.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Maryanne; children, John M. and his wife Patricia Piovane of Portsmouth, VA., Anne M. and her husband Stan Materna of Mechanicsville, VA,. Rosemarie and her husband Michael O’Drain of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Michael Piovane of Allentown, PA; 9 grandchildren.
