Josephine V. Povilaitis, 91, of St. Augustine, formerly of Beverly Beach, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Moultrie Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Povilaitis was born March 1, 1922 in New Orleans, LA a daughter of Philip and Virginia Gicobbe Masaracchia. 

She had owned and operated her own restaurant in Michigan and moved to Beverly Beach in 1977. Mrs. Povilaitis was a member of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, where she sang in the church choir. She also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Povilaitis enjoyed cooking, playing cards and most of all, spending time with her family & friends.

Her husband of 53 years, Al Povilaitis, died in 1996.

She is survived by a daughter, Ginger Lindbergh of St. Augustine; one son, Edward Povilaitis of Lake Orion, MI; one brother, Joseph Masaracchia of Morton Grove, Ill; four grandchildren, Greg Toornman, Chris Toornman, Heather Reid and Justin Povilaitis, and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Nick Mayser.

Arrangements are in the trust and care of the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home in Flagler Beach. Funeral services will be private.
