Jerome Victor Gerard Richards Jr, 66, passed away on February 8th, 2022 in Palm Coast, Florida. He was born and raised in the beautiful island of Trinidad, the tenth of eleven children. He migrated to the United States at the age of twenty-one and worked to make a life for himself while engaging in his first love-playing the trumpet with his band. During his journey, he met the love of his life, Miguelina “Mickey” at a local five and dime retail store and thus began the new chapter in his life, becoming a devoted husband of forty-two years and a father to his two children, Michael and Jennifer. Jerome joined the New York City Health Department in 1980 for eleven years before joining the New York City Department of Corrections in 1991. In May of 2014, he retired from the Corrections Department and moved to sunny Palm Coast, FL.

Jerome had a wonderful personality, a golden heart and charismatic smile that won your heart the moment you met him. He had a great laugh and possessed a magnetism about his spirit that had everyone within his presence gravitate to him instantly, especially children and animals. He was a devote catholic and member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for seven years and enjoyed engaging in conversation with friends after church service. He enjoyed fishing with his brother Herbert “Herbie,” listening to music especially jazz, enjoyed dancing, love to travel and play dominoes. Jerome enjoyed a good laugh and joking around with the people he loved the most. But more than anything, he loved his family and friends fiercely and with all his heart.

Jerome is preceded in death by his father Jerome Sr., mother Norma, brothers Archibald “Archie”, Wallace, Jerry and his sisters Daphne and Yolande.

He is survived by his wife Miguelina “Mickey”, his children Michael and Jennifer, grandson Christian, brother Herbert “Herbie” and sisters June, Verena, Janet, and Barbara. A host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sister-in law, mother-in-law, extended family, and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on February 12th, 2022. Visitation will be held at 12:00pm with Funeral Mass at 1:00pm. Entombment immediately following Funeral Mass at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home & Flagler Memorial Gardens.
