Gertrude Roberts, 99, passed away February 28, 2008, at the Florida Hospital in Flagler County, Fla. She was born December 15, 1908, in Toano, Va. to the late George and Mary Elizabeth Banks.

She was preceded in death by her son, Willie L. Roberts and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Roberts.

She lived in Plainfield, N.J., for many years and often spoke fondly of her friends in Plainfield. She has lived in Florida the past 15 years.

She was a member of the Dominion Life Worship Center, Bunnell. Gertrude was truly one of God's angels here on earth who offered a smile to everyone she met, loved with a pure heart and brought joy to us all. She moved to Flagler Pines Nursing Center in November 2006. Her family would like to offer their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Flagler Pines Nursing Center who gave their time and love to her over the past year. She loved her church and the Lord and lived her life in a way that was a true inspiration to all who knew her. Her pastor, David L. Frazier and his wife Coleen, were instrumental in caring for her the last few years of her life.

She is survived by her grandchildren, William (Billy) Roberts, Brenda Roberts, Yvonne Watts and Brian Roberts (Barbara), all of New Jersey; her nephew, Benjamin and his wife, Catherine Moore; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach. Pastor David L. Frazier will be officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. A repast will be held after the funeral service at 108 Seaside Circle, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., home of Benjamin and Catherine Moore.
