James C. Rodgers, 78, Chapel Street, Bunnell, died Monday at a Macclenny hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Rodgers was born in Elberton, Ga. and moved to Bunnell 37 years ago from there. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bunnell. He was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his wife Geneva; a daughter, Mrs. Frankie Garrison, Hyde Park, N. Y.; two sons, Herbert, Macclenny and Wallace, Washington, Ga.;  two sisters, Mrs. Frank Dallas, Lincolnton, Ga.; and Mrs. Charlie Turner, Washington, Ga.; a brother, A. C., Bunnell; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at 3 at the First Baptist Church, Bunnell, with Rev. Charles Anders officiating. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hubert Frier, Jack Clegg, Jimmy Kelley, Coy Harris, Philip Johnson and J. L. Crews.

Honorary pallbearers were Dewayne Metts, R. J. Thompson, Philip Barker, D. W. Taylor, Gilbert Anderson, C. B. Eisenbach, T. K. McKnight, P. A. Edmonson, Custer Durrance, L.H. Church, Raymond Smith, Shelton Barber, Remley Murray and Jack Hall.

Craig Funeral Home, Bunnell, was in charge of arrangements.
