Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Loucious Barnett Ruark who died at his home in Flagler Beach Friday morning following a heart attack.
Mr. Ruark has been a resident of Flagler Beach since 1920, having moved there with his family from his former home in Madison, Georgia. During his residence in Flagler Beach he served as tender of the bridge across the intra coastal waterway for several years. He also acted as manager of the municipal pier for a number of years before purchasing a drug store which he operated for the past six years.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Minnie Lou Ruark, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roy Lewis of Flagler Beach, and two sons, Phillip Ruark of Jacksonville, and Francis Ruark of Flagler Beach. Three grandchildren, Don, Eula and Barnett Lewis, also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at the Flagler Beach Baptist Church at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon with Rev, Edwin R. Dow officiating. Burial was made at Hope Cemetery the same afternoon. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Baggett, Wetherby and McIntosh of Daytona Beach.
Active pallbearers were: Norman Carter, T, E. Holden, Charles Ranger, George Moody, R. W. Raulerson, George Wickline, and Frank Owen.
