Betty Jean (Smith) Sabatino
AUGUST 9, 1934 – JULY 20, 2018
Sabatino, Betty Jean, 83, of Flagler Beach, Florida passed away on July 20, 2018. Betty passed peacefully at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House after a very brief stay at both Florida Hospital Flagler and Ormond Beach. Betty was born in Dover, NJ, lived in Rockaway, NJ and then in Boonton, NJ before relocating to Palm Coast in 1989 and then to their dream house on Flagler Beach in 2002.
She was married to Frank Sabatino for 60 years. Betty was a very active woman. She was a Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer at Flagler Hospital for 29 years totaling more than 8500 service hours. She held numerous positions including: Vice President, Ways and Means committee member, interviewer, and trainer. She was a Flagler County election official for 15 years. Betty was passionate about golf. She was a member of the Grand Reserve Monday Niners women’s golf league in Bunnell and the Cypress Knoll 18-hole women’s golf league. Betty served as President for both leagues for many years. Betty was active in many other social circles including the Red Hat Society and cards with the girls. She was employed as a Secretary for the Government Installation and a market researcher in NJ. Betty was a Cub Scout leader and Brownie leader when her children were young. She loved to travel, including cruises and her time spent with friends and family on Marco Island.
Her true passion was spending time with her 2 children, Donna and Frank, their spouses John and Debbie as well as their grandchildren John Marshall and Amanda.
Betty is preceded by her mother Lyda DeRusso and her sister and best friend Shirley (Smith) Biron.
She is survived by her loving husband Frank, daughter Donna Sabatino and son-In-law John Hanlon, Son Frank Sabatino and daughter in law Debbie (Hill) Sabatino. She has one brother Kenneth Smith from Wharton, NJ. She also leaves behind numerous nephews and a niece who will miss her tremendously. T
he family receive friends on Sunday July 29, from 3:00 to 7:00PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach.
A service celebrating the life of Betty will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home with Chaplain Edilson Goncalves officiating. Following the service, a prayer of Consecration will be held in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens at her final resting place.
The family suggests contributions in memory of Betty be made to the Florida Hospital Flagler Hospital Auxiliary Service or the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House.
