Joseph Vincent Sanfilippo 94, of Palm Coast passed away peacefully on May 2, 2011. He was born on May 16, 1916 in Hoboken, NJ to the late Salvatore and Catarina Sanfilippo (Chiarello).
As a young man he proudly served in the US Navy as a gunner and machinist during WWII. In 1979 he and his wife moved to the Palm Coast area from Ridgefield Park, NJ. Joseph was one of the few surviving charter members of the Italian American Social Club in Palm Coast. He enjoyed gardening and especially cruising enjoying more than 60 voyages. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Private services will be held in the near future at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens with military honors.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Sanfilippo on August 15, 2009 and granddaughter, Rena Beth Sanfilippo on October 13, 2010.
Survivors include his sons, Joseph and his wife Maria Sanfilippo of Palm Coast; Robert and his wife Marianne Sanfilippo of Wayne, NJ; Richard and his wife Rosemarie Sanfilippo of Palm Coast; grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, Marcus, Michael, Robbie, Deborah and David; 10 great-grandchildren.
Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
