Funeral service for Lilah Ruth Schatz, 95, Palm Coast, will be held Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, 300 N. Central Ave., Flagler Beach. Burial will follow in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Mrs. Schatz passed away February 17, 2007, at her residence. She was born October 20, 1911, in Birmingham, Ala., and moved to Flagler Beach in 1952. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, where she had served as an active music director, Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir.

Mrs. Schatz worked for the Flagler County school system for 13 years. She was instrumental in starting the hot lunch program at the Flagler Beach Elementary School. Her hobbies were sewing and gardening. She was a volunteer for the Council on Aging for many years.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Jerrald Schatz.

She is survived by her sister, Carrie Ben Layton, Birmingham, Ala.; her children, Frederick Schatz, Powder Springs, Ga., Douglas Schatz, Oak Hill, and Marjorie Guthrie and Ed Schatz, both of The Hammock; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, 300 N. Central Ave., Flagler Beach, FL 32137.
