Schleith

Gloria Schleith of Palm Coast passed away peacefully on May 15, 2016. She leaves behind her brother, Karl L. Schleith, his wife Katherine and many nephews, nieces and their offspring. Gloria was known for her big heart, outgoing personality and athletic talent.

She was inducted into the Women's Softball Hall of Fame in 1977 and was an avid golfer later in life. She rose through the ranks of the Federal Emergency Management Agency retiring as a program manager after 20 years of service. She worked several more years at Geico and then retired to live an active life at Palm Coast. Gloria was a founding member of the Women's club at Grand Haven and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her many friends and family.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 11:00 AM in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach.

Below is a tribute to Gloria written by Robert Schleith, her eldest nephew, which reflects the loss felt by her family. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local animal shelter reflects Gloria's wishes:

"Our dearest Gloria the only Gloria we've ever known - it seems that we take for granted anymore, that routine visits to the hospital will always end well. I can only hope that you are off on discovery now of a most wonderful realm of soul consciousness, and in loving reunion with friends and relatives who went before you - most especially back with your beloved mom Sophie, and your always close confidante, Daphne.

We will continue to talk with you daily, will still tell you of our happiest moments, and our little heartaches as well. Because we remember that you were always there for us, listening to our stories when we were over the moon with some little joy in our lives; or giving us hope when we thought that we couldn't go on another day; and then, when we were on top of the world, having come through a difficult challenge, you were there again.

You listened, you applauded, you cried with us - in short, you always cared. And for that we are forever grateful for your wellspring of love for, and abiding faith in, all of us. Go in peace, knowing that you made a difference in our lives, that the space you leave behind is one that is truly irreplaceable .. you will always be treasured by us. Love always."
