BUNNELL MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT
BUNNELL – A Bunnell man was killed seven miles west of the city Thursday night on S. R. 100 while apparently crawling on the roadway.
Steven Shotwell, 44, was struck by an oncoming care in the eastbound land, according to Florida Highway Patrol investigators. He died while being transported to a Jacksonville hospital by helicopter.
According to a report filed by Trooper J. H. Coates and Homicide Investigator, D. K. Wiles, a car driven by Jesse M. Thompson, Interlachen was westbound on S. R. 100 and started to pass a slow moving vehicle. Thompson told the troopers, the report states, Shotwell was on his hands and knees partly in the roadway when the vehicle struck him.
A native of Brooklyn, N. Y., Shotwell moved to this area two and a half years ago from Dover, Del. He was retired from the Navy.
Survivors include his widow, Paula, and a daughter, Patricia Ann.
