Jeanne R. Siegel
MARCH 19, 1923 – OCTOBER 17, 2020

It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of Jeanne Siegel on October 17th at the age of 97.

Jeanne leaves behind her children, Karen, Neil. (Jan), Daniel (Hanna), Esther (Michael); her grandchildren, Noah, Shefa, Elisha, Jesse, Jonah, and Adina; and her great grandchildren Eden, Avna, and Noah. Loving wife of the late Sidney Ram and David Siegel, companion to the late Alan Smolen, adored by her late brother Allwin and sister-in-law Sarah.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Edward L. and Fannie Fass, Jeanne had a passion for life. After receiving her Master’s degree in Economics from Hunter College, Jeanne worked as a buyer in the fashion industry before retiring to raise Karen and Neil with Sidney in Beacon, NY.

Several years after Sidney’s death, Jeanne married David and moved their blended family to Flushing, NY. The family then moved to Fair Lawn, NJ. Summers were spent at Camp High Point, in West Shokan, NY, where Jeanne was the girls’ head counsellor and David the camp’s dining-hall steward. During the remainder of the year, Jeanne worked as the Executive Secretary to the Teaneck, NJ, Superintendent of Schools, while raising her four children and baking with her neighbors.

Jeanne and David retired to the then fledgling town of Palm Coast, FL, where they were among the first residents, and where she and David helped found Temple Beth Shalom.

For the next 20 years, Jeanne found her passion as a substitute teacher in the Palm Coast public schools, and also followed in David’s footsteps as President of Temple Beth Shalom. When she was not playing weekly mahjong and card games with her friends or rehearsing for the Temple’s annual musicals, Jeanne was an avid crafter and was constantly knitting and crocheting blankets, sweaters and socks, as well as counted cross-stitching artistic images.

Jeanne spent her final years in Denver, CO. She embraced life, and will be remembered for her lively spirit and her unstoppable energy.
