Funeral service celebrating the life of Eugene Dennis Sobers, 72, Palm Coast, who passed away September 23, 2007, at Florida Hospital Flagler, will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. South, Flagler Beach. His family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Mr. Sobers was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1989. He was a Marine veteran serving during the Korean conflict. Mr. Sobers was a member of St. George Episcopal Church in Brooklyn. He was a union representative for the Teamsters for many years. Mr. Sober enjoyed traveling and sports. He was devoted to his family and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His survivors include his wife of 21 years, Marion; one daughter, Denise (Norman) Gray, Manhattan, N.Y.; one son, Dennis (Charisse) Sobers, Brooklyn, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Lynnette Lowry, Tampa, Fla., and Lois (Sam) Procise, Emporia, Va.; two stepsons, Dennis Lowry, Queens, N.Y., and William Lowry, Brooklyn; four grandchildren, Taraja, Danielle, April and Darius; eight step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A son, Aaron Sobers, and stepson, Robert Lowry, preceded him in death.
