FLAGLER BEACH - Michael Steflik, 91, of South Central Avenue, who retired in 1994 as a farmer, died Friday at an assisted living facility in Palm Coast.

Born in Kartal, Germany, Mr. Steflik moved here in 1927 from West Virginia. He enjoyed collecting antiques.

Survivors include three daughters, Bette Steflik and Marianne Irish, both of Portland, Ore., and Mechele Conklin, Tallahassee; a brother, Louis, Bunnell; a sister, Mary Thompson, Chesapeake, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

STEFLIK, MICHAEL- Funeral service for Michael Steflik, who died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. Viewing will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach.

Mr. Steflik was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Kartal, Hungary, to Mary and Frank Steflik. At age 7, he and his mom came to the United States to a coal-mining town in West Virginia to be with his dad. Flagler County became his family's home when he was 14 and he farmed until he was 80 years old. In the 1960s he and his wife Betty began collecting beautiful works of art and they went on to open an antique shop, Bettie's Best Antiques and Collectibles.

Mr. Steflik was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Betty Best Deans Steflik; brother, Frank Steflik; and daughter, Grace Steflik Gottfried.

Survivors include his three daughters, Bette Steflik and Marianne Irish, both of Portland, Ore., and Mechele Steflik Conklin (and husband, Ed), Tallahassee; two grandchildren, Christopher and Grace Marie Conklin; sister, Mary Thompson, Chesapeake, Va.; and brother, Louis Steflik, Bunnell.
