FLAGLER BEACH -- Joseph Walter Swietlicki, 80 of North 11th Street, a retired captain for the merchant marines, died Monday at Memorial Hospital-Flagler, Bunnell. 

Mr. Swietlicki was born in Hartford, Conn., and came here in 1979 from Killingworth, Conn. He was a graduate of the Fort Trumbull Merchant Marine School, New London, Conn., and served as a merchant marine during World War II. He was a member of the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots, and the Marine Society of the City of New York. 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Yvonne; two daughters, Frances Swietlicki, Flagler Beach, Alice Kohler, Sandy Hook, Conn.; two brothers, Edward, Sun City Center, and Charles, Wapping, Conn.; and a grandchild and great grandchild.

SWIETLICKI, Joseph Walter

Joseph Walter Swietlicki, 80 of Flagler Beach, FL, a retired captain for the merchant marines, died Monday (Feb 9, 1998) at Memorial Hospital in Florida

Captain Swietlicki was born in Hartford, and moved to Flagler Beach in 1979 from Killingworth. He was a graduate of the Fort Trumbull Merchant Marine School, New London. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and last sailed as master of the SS LASH for Prudential Grace Lines.

He was a member of the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots, and the Marine Society of the City of New York. 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Yvonne; two daughters, Frances Swietlicki of Flagler Beach and Alice Kohler of Sandy Hook; two brothers, Edward of Sun City, FL and Charles, of Wapping; and a grandchild and great grandchild.

Funeral services will be today, 11 a.m., in the chapel of Craig Funeral Home, Palm Coast, FL.
