Man found dead: Flagler County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a
24-year old college student found dead at home in his room Thursday.
A spokesman for the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said Tom Tant, Jr. 24, was found dead by his father, Tommy Tant, at 8:25 a.m.in his parents' home, 3311 North State Road A1A.
"There is no evidence of foul play at the scene." Johanna Sharp, secretary for Sheriff Bob McCarthy, said Thursday afternoon. "The investigation is being turned over to the medical examiner."
Tant was a graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School and attended Daytona Beach Community College. He was to graduate this semester and transfer to Florida State University. He was employed as a waiter at Outback Steakhouse in Ormond Beach.
His father Tom Tant, is a former finance director for the Flagler County School Board and lost in a bid for Flagler County Clerk of Courts post two years ago against Syd Crosby.
Tant's younger brother, Will, is a well-known surfer on the professional tour.
