Arthur "Art" H. Taylor Jr. was born in Danbury, CT on January 27, 1935, the second child of the late Catherine Regina (Armbruster) and late Arthur H. Taylor Sr. Art grew up in Bethel and Danbury, CT and attended Danbury High School and Henry Abbott Technical Regional School in Danbury, CT.
After graduation, he worked for Risdon Corporation before moving to Brookfield, CT and joining Kimberly-Clark Inc in New Milford, CT where he worked as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement in 1990. For the next ten years, he and his wife Tomiko owned and operated Taylor Cleaners in New Milford, CT, before moving to Palm Coast, FL.
While in Palm Coast, Art continued with his carpentry and woodworking skills, doing projects for customers throughout the area. He also greatly enjoyed bi-annual cruise travel and weekly breakfast gatherings at various local restaurants with his close friends the Underwood and Winston families of Palm Coast.
Art was an avid gardener, a huge Yankees baseball fan, and bowled in several different leagues. He also enjoyed woodworking and crafts, watching sports, golfing and reading, as well as playing cards with his friends. Throughout his life, Art always enjoyed building things, starting with his soap box derby cars, furniture, even two of his own homes, and renovating old cars and gardening. He could always be found tinkering in his garage workshop or digging in the yard, or at a baseball game or bowling. He had a love of baseball and could talk for hours about the games and the players.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Tomiko Taylor, and his six children and ten grandchildren - Arthur H. Taylor III and his wife Judy and their children Michele, Heather and Arthur IV of Richfield, MN, Frances Taylor DeBease of Southbury, CT, Patricia Nickerson and her sons Daven and Hudson of New Milford, CT, Frank Taylor and his wife Lynda and their children David and Becca of Monroe, OR, Susan Lee Taylor and her son Anthony of Danbury, CT, Lorena Hoyt and her husband John of Tuftonboro, NH, and stepson Kogi Senatore and his wife Sara and their son"s Tate and Cooper of New York, N.Y.
Art is also survived by one brother James Taylor and his wife Patricia of Ormond Beach, FL, and two sisters Elizabeth Anderson and her husband Robert, and Catherine "Tootie" Bennett of Danbury, CT, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Arthur was predeceased by his first wife Frances (Fiore) Taylor, and his sister Louise (Taylor) Burdick of Brookfield, CT.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach. Interment will follow in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
