A funeral service celebrating the life of Jerome “Joe” Thomas Taylor 76, of Palm Coast will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009, 1:00PM at the chapel of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach; Interment to follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit on Wednesday, August 26, 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Joe passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2009 at his home. He was born on April 27, 1933 in Stone, KY to the late Thomas Jefferson and Mayme Taylor (Frazier).

He was a decorated Air Force combat pilot during Vietnam. After his retirement as a captain for United Airlines he and his wife moved to the Palm Coast area in 2004 from Louisville, KY. Joe was a member of the Military Order of World Wars where he served as a national officer. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan, the Boston Red Socks and any team playing against the Yankees. His other hobbies included playing golf, tennis, bowling, horseshoes and tending to his garden. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Music Taylor; son, James Taylor of Palm Coast; daughters, Katherine and her husband Lee Shakas of Huntington Beach, CA; Mary Jo and her husband Nigel Emery of Stamford, CT; twin-brother, James Wallace Taylor of Palm Coast, brothers, Jack Frazier Taylor of Orlando; Truman Richard Taylor of Merced, CA; grandchildren, Alex and Sarah Shakas, Alyssa Taylor and Caroline Emery.

Memorial Contributions in his name may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange, FL 32129.
