Teters, 77, Sawtooth Lane, Ormond Beach, who passed away Sunday (July 5, 2009) at his residence, will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at Central Baptist Church, 142 Fairview Ave., Daytona Beach with Pastor Sunny Gallman officiating. Interment will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill.

A native of Bunnell, Jimmy was proud to be a Florida Cracker. He was a retired foreman who worked 30 plus years with Florida Power & Light. A US Navy veteran, he served aboard the aircraft carrier Philippine Sea (CV-47) during the Korean War.

His memberships included the I.B.E.W. and Rivera Country Club. Jimmy coached football for many years, both flag football and midget football (now Pop Warner). He was passionate about following the athletic achievements and lives of those he coached. His attendance at high school football games was frequent.

The outdoors, playing golf and fishing were important pass times and brought a great deal of happiness. Jimmy made friends easily, it didn't matter if it was on the golf course, the ball field or breaking bread. He loved hearing a good joke or telling one. The time he spent with his sons and grandsons was cherished.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Miller R. and Nellie Barcliff Teters and a brother, Benjamin R. Teters.

In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, FL 32119.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jim Jr. and Robert L, both of Ormond Beach; his companion of 33 years, Elaine Dykes; 2 grandsons, James "Austin" Teters, III and Jay Evan Teters "Jet"; and the mother of his children, Elaine B. Teters, of Ormond Beach.
