WILLIAM J. TILLARD, 70, OWNED MORRIS STORE
PALM COAST, Fla. William J. Tillard died Saturday at Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, He was 70.
He was born in Pittsburg.
Mr. Tillard was a senior executive for 37 years with Metropolitan Life before retiring. Prior to that, he and his wife Ann, were owners of the East Hanover Sweet Shoppe until 1960.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
He was a charter member of the Palm Coast Community Civic Association; a former member of the board of directors fro the Palm Coast Community Service Corp.; past president of the Florida Chapter of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association; a certified All Florida insurance instructor; a member of the Republican National Committee; the Bod Dole Free Enterprise Council; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8696 of Palm Coast, and an avid Pittsburg sports enthusiast and supporter.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann; a daughter, Sharon Wiest of Medway, Mass.; one son, William J. Jr. of Ormond Beach; one sister, Jean Correale of Mount Freedom; and six grandchildren.
