Obituary of Marion Rose Tripodi

Marion Rose Tripodi (nee DiFranco), 87, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2018 at Home Sweet Home of Palm Coast Assisted Living Facility in Palm Coast, Florida. Born on October 6, 1930, Marion was the only child of Rosina (Marino) and Giuseppe DiFranco.

The child of Italian immigrants, Marion was raised in the “Italian Harlem” neighborhood in New York City, surrounded in love by her parents and many extended family members. Marion’s first job was as a “key-punch operator”, a data entry method widely used in the 1940s.

Marion was the devoted wife of the late Benjamin Anthony Tripodi, who preceded her in death in November 2008. They met in New York City and married in 1953. They spent the next 15 years in various locations in New York City and on Long Island while raising their three daughters. In 1968 Marion and Ben moved to Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Marion lovingly and selflessly continued to dedicate her life to her family and also found pleasure in part-time employment as a saleswoman at Shirlanes, a women’s clothing boutique in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Marion and Ben briefly moved back to Long Island for a few years and then back to Elmwood Park before relocating to Palm Coast Florida in 1986, where they spent many happy years. Marion lived the last few years of her life at Home Sweet Home of Palm Coast Assisted Living Facility.

Marion is survived by her daughters Rosemarie Scarpa and her husband Michael, Diane Pitak and her husband Glen, and Tina Oetting and her husband Thomas; grandchildren Michael Scarpa, Daniel Scarpa, Melissa Scarpa, Nicole Oetting and Thomas Oetting; great grandchildren Brooke Wilson, Brad Wilson, and Aislynn Oetting; sister-in-law Elaine Tripodi and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 23 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Marion’s life will be held Thursday, May 24 at 11:00 AM in Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach, Florida. Entombment will follow in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
