OCALA - Dorothy W. Upson, 80, of Village Drive, a former resident of Ormond Beach who worked at Real Estate broker for Artcraft Realty and business manager for Artcraft Homes, both of Ormond Beach, died Friday at Palm Gardens of Ocala.

Mrs. Upson was born in Auburn, Ala., and moved to this area in 1950 from Tampa. She was a former member of the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church and the Highlands Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach. She was a member of the Board of Realtors and the National Council of Exchangers. Mrs. Upson enjoyed fishing, boating and the beach.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Reginald; two daughters, Marianne Upson, Ocala, and Manette Metcalf, Castaic, Calif.; a brother, James Whatley, Sarasota; and three grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 146 Orange Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

UPSON, DOROTHY W. - Funeral service for Dorothy W. Upson, 80, a lifelong Floridian, who died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 105 Amsden Rd., Ormond Beach, with the Rev. Ernest Haddad officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow the service at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, Flagler Beach.

Mrs. Upson resided in Ocala the last several years with her husband, Reginald, and daughter, Marianne. She grew up in Tampa and moved to the Daytona area when she married Reginald C. Upson. Together they started Artcraft Homes, where Dorothy was business manager. Dorothy later branched into real estate and formed Artcraft Realty, which she managed until 1989. She was a former member of the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach. Dorothy was a member of the Board of Realtors, Ormond Beach, and the National Council of Exchangers. She enjoyed outdoor activities, including fishing, boating and the beach.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Reginald Upson, Ocala; daughters, Marianne Upson, Ocala, and Manette Upson Metcalf, Castaic, Calif.; son­in-law, Marvin Metcalf; three grandchildren, Brian Curtis Metcalf, Erin Gaye Metcalf and Garrett Evan Metcalf all of California; brother, James A. Whatley and sister-in-law, Myra Whatley, Sarasota.

She was preceded in death by her son, Martin Evan Upson, in 1979, and her brother John Will Whatley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 146 Orange Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
