October 25, 1930 – July 19, 2023
Nicholas Vutsinas, age 92, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Nicholas was born in Astoria, Queens, NY.
On July 19, 2023, after a short illness, Mr. Nicholas Vutsinas, 92, departed this life to joyfully worship at the feet of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Those of us who knew Nick know that his personal relationship with Christ was the guiding force in every daily decision he made. Dad’s love for people lead him to many volunteer opportunities such as delivering Meals on Wheels, feeding the homeless, helping the elderly, and assisting at summer church camp.
Since moving to Palm Coast, Florida over 25 years ago, Nick (and Faye) have served in and been members of many Christian Churches, most recently New Way Church of Palm Coast. The leadership of Pastor Richard Summerlin and his staff helped Nick to grow in his faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Being surrounded by so many brothers and sisters in Christ helped Nick to navigate the last few years of his life.
Born in Astoria, New York on October 25, 1930, Nick was the youngest of six children. His mother Zafiro and father, Stavros, emigrated to America from Greece via Italy and France in about 1919.
Upon training as a radio man in the US Air Force, Nick was sent to Japan to support military air traffic. This practical education lead to an over 30 year career in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He began his air traffic controller training at Newark, New Jersey Tower (EWR). He progressed through radar training and worked in the Common IFR Room-Newark Sector followed by promotion to Baltimore-Washington Airport Supervisor and assistant chief. He also spent time at FAA Headquarters in many different capacities.
Nick is survived by Faye, his bride of nearly 70 years. Nick and Faye married in 1954. Their God-Blessed union produced a hardworking family dedicated to following Christ. Evan (Rita), Anastasia (Thomas), and Steven (Sandi) became deeper Christians observing their dad’s mid-life conversion and subsequent walk with his Lord.
Nick and Faye cherished their grandchildren, Chris, Steve, Victoria, David, Nick, Andrew, Samantha, Maria, Tommy and Asher, all have vivid and unique memories of their Grandpa/Papouli. Nick and Faye were also blessed to have 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Caitlin, Owen, Gabriela, Cecilia and Crosby.
There will be a Visitation, Friday, July 21, 2023 from 7-9pm at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home with a Funeral Service Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11am and Entombment to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in honor of Nicholas to New Way Church of Palm Coast Homeless fund or to Orthodox Christian Mission Center.
