Frank Robert Wheeler

A Memorial service for Frank Robert Wheeler 92, of Palm Coast will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 12:00PM at the chapel of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. S. Flagler Beach. Inurnment to follow with military honors at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit on Friday, from 11:00 until time of the service at the funeral home.

Frank passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 9, 2010 in the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. Frank was born in Newark, NJ to the late Frank and Leona Wheeler (Math). After graduating from high school he joined the JC Penny Company but shortly after he was drafted into the US Army where he became a Sgt. Major in the Army Signal Communication Battalion Corp in the Pacific. Upon his return from the service he met and married the love of his life Eleanor and had 2 children. He returned to JC Penny Company as their western regional sales display design manager and set stores prior to opening. Moved to California where he traveled for 42 years for the company.

Upon his retirement he and Eleanor moved to Palm Coast, FL. in 1991. They both volunteered at Florida Hospital Flagler.  Frank volunteered for 15 years and spent 8 of them as the chairman of the E.R. Volunteers. His hobbies included playing golf and tennis. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Eleanor; daughter, Debbie Wheeler of Palm Coast; son, Richard Wheeler; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren all of Chicago.
