Austin Van Buren Wickline, a resident of Flagler Beach for 29 years, died at his home on Central Avenue at 2:45 Monday afternoon following a long illness.
Mr. Wickline was born in 1859 in Monroe County, West Virginia, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Washington Wickline. He resided in Crown Point, Indiana, for a number of years before moving to Florida 30 years ago. He resided at Haw Creek before moving to Flagler Beach where he engaged in the mercantile business for the past 29 years.
Mr. Wickline was a member of the Flagler Beach Baptist Church and had served as a deacon of the church for a number of years before his health failed.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Etta. C. Wickline of Flagler Beach; two daughters, Mrs. O. C. Minton of Ft. Pierce, and Mrs. V. W. Haines of Orlando; one son, George. E. Wickline of Flagler Beach. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Richard and Edwin Minton of Ft. Pierce; Kathryn and George Haines of Orlando; and Mary and Catherine Wickline of Tampa. Several brothers also survive.
Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. J. Littleton, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial services followed at Hope Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: George Moody, Frank Owen, N. Hansen, Dave Roberts, Norman Carter, and John Durrance. Honorary were Dr. J. C. Gibbs, A. A. Root, R. O'Neil, Charles Parker, Harry Rogers, R. S. Tolan, and E. R. Dow.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Haigh and Brooks Funeral Home of Daytona Beach.
