Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Community Baptist Church in Flagler Beach for Mrs. Etta Chaffee Wickline, who died Tuesday morning in Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach.
The services were conducted by Rev. Edwin R. Dow, retired minister of Flagler Beach. Arrangements were in charge of Haigh and Brooks of Daytona Beach. Interment was in Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. F. Mercer, George Moody, Tom E. Holden, R.W. Raulerson, C. O. Magee and Niels Hansen.
Mrs. Wickline, who was 84 years of age, had been in failing health for some time and was taken to the hospital Sunday after becoming worse.
She was a native of Michigan, having been born at Colfax on September 26, 1868. She was married in 1899 to Austin Van Buren Wickline in Crown Point, Indiana. Mr. Wickline died several years ago.
The family came to Florida from Indiana 40 years ago, first living in the Haw Creek section, later moving to what is now Flagler Beach. They built a home and a store on the west side of the inland waterway and established a post office, naming the place Ocean City. In 1925 when Flagler Beach became a town, the post office was moved to its present location on Central Ave. and Mrs. Wickline continued in the post office for a number of years.
Until her retirement a few years ago, she was active in church and civic work.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. O. C. Minton, Ft. Pierce, Mrs. V. W. Haines, Flagler Beach and one son, George Wickline, Flagler Beach. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
