Lucille R. Wilkes
JUNE 28, 1930 – APRIL 9, 2018

Lucille R. Wilkes, 87 passed peacefully on April 9, 2018, at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, in Flagler Beach FL. She was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1930, to parents Benjamin and Ruth Wilkes. She graduated from Bassick High School in 1948.

She is preceded into death by her brothers, Horace Wilkes and Richard Wilkes of CT, her sons Douglas Bassett and Jeffery Bassett.

She is survived by her brother Raymond Wilkes and sister Shirley Koos, both of CT, son Raymond Irving Bassett III (Gina), daughter Elizabeth Eunice (David), and 6 grandchildren.

Lucille moved to Florida in 1973, she worked as a Bookkeeper, in Daytona Beach for the Plaza Hotel and Lawrence Stockhausen, CPA.

In April of 1996, Lucille survived massive brain bleed, which required her to overcome short term memory and balance problems. Eventually, she was able to enjoy living, on her own for many years in Flagler Beach. In spite of her health issues, she always kept her wit and humor. She enjoyed decorative painting and was member of the Seaside Decorative Painters of Daytona Beach. She was an avid recipe collector and a wonderful cook. In her later years, she loved doing crossword puzzles, playing card games and music on her organ.

A Celebration of Life for Lucille will take place on April, 21st at 12:00 pm with a grave-side service at 2:00 pm.
