John “Jack” Worrell, 79, of St. Augustine passed away suddenly on Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born on April 21, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late John Paul and Louise Agnes Worrell (Gries).
As a young man he served in the US Navy where he learned his trade as an automotive mechanic. After his military service he owned & operated Arco Service Stations in Feasterville & Langhorne, PA. In 1979 he & his family moved to Flagler Beach where he owned & operated Quality Automotive for many years.
His hobbies included buying & selling classic automobiles, drag racing, golf, & most recently Poker playing but his greatest love in life was being with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anne B. Worrell in 1995.
Survivors include his son, Tim (Joy) Worrell of Aiken, SC; daughter, Beth (Rod) Ostgard of Scottsmoor, FL; significant other, Bernice Gacek of St. Augustine; sister, Jeannette Prutzman of PA; grandchildren, Timothy, Gresham, Knox, Thomas and Katie and numerous loving relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A graveside service with military honors will be celebrated on Saturday, February 4, 2017, 11:00AM at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
